On the occasion where there is a tie the symbol(=) will be used
Only during the final round a countback system will be used (SEE COUNT BACK SYSTEM BELOW)
**ROUND 3 UPDATE**
The national points scoring system is no longer in place for 2020 rounds due to covid-19.
Fish are to be measured using the appropriate Yak Hunters 1 off issued brag mat or have your own brag mats approved by admin on the day of each event.
No other measuring devices will be accepted (we will issue your angler brag mat on the day)
Entries are strictly CPR - Catch, Photo, Release.
The use of live wells to transport live fish back to a launch point will not be permitted and will result in those entries being invalid.
No dead fish are to be used in your photo catch entry. Any entries of dead fish will be invalid and may result in disqualification. Any cheating or attempting to cheat will result in instant disqualification.
Ensure your photo entry is legible, accurate, and easy to identify. Judges will thoroughly check each photo entry and will decide on a unanimous score. Judges decisions are final.
Measurements will be taken from nose of fish to the tip of the fish. Your total score for the round will be the total measure length of all your selected bag fish combined, plus any additional bonus points scored within the round.
The nose of the fish must be up against the plastic brag mat stop, and the dorsal in the up position in the photo. (where applicable, subject to change as per species)
Ensure you include your angler number (code used for Round 3) within the photo so it can be easily identifiable.
If the fish can not clearly be seen at the beginning of the brag mat and where the fish finishes, this could result in the fish not being accepted to your bag for the day.
In addition to the Major Prizes, each event will hold it's own daily prizes.
Prizes will come in the form of cash, vouchers, items, or a combination of all of the above. Prize breakdowns will be announced 1 week prior to the event.
Prizes formed for an event are relevant to a combination of entrant entry fee returns, sponsor additions, and bonus prizes.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 6 placings at each State Event. Special prizes may also be awarded to the entrant who catches the single LARGEST Primary species fish on the day, or the single LARGEST Bonus species fish on the day.
In addition to:
- State Champion Anglers of the series (the average highest scoring member from each state over all state rounds combined)
POWER PLAY :
How does it work? It's super simple.
Upon registering for a round, you will now have an added optional feature called 'Power Play' which you can add to your registration fee. The Power Play Fee is an additional $25. Think of it as an option to 'back yourself' at your upcoming event.
Each 'Power Play' entry of $25 accumulates into a separate prize pool, specific to your event. The goal here is to catch the LARGEST target fish out of all the 'Power Players' within your local round event. If you win this.. you score the entire pot of 'Power Play' prize cash. This is also on top of any additional prizes you gain during the round.
NOTE: Another entrant who has caught the largest fish at the event, cannot score the 'Power Play' prize pool unless they have added that option to their registration. The winner of the 'Power Play' pot must have:
a) Included the 'Power Play 'option to their registration, and;
b) Caught the single LARGEST fish out of all 'Power Play' members at their LOCAL event round.
Any DRAW between Power Play entrants will result in a split prize pot, which is evenly split over the amount of entrants drawn for the winning place.
The less Power Play members in a round.. the easier it is for you to win it.
The More Power Play members in a round.. the harder it is to win it, but the larger the prize pot is!
We think this is a fun way to back yourself in an event that you feel confident in. It also creates an additional and larger prize pool for anglers who are confident in their skill level, or as a bit of fun amongst mates who want to gain a little more than just bragging rights.
ENTRY FEE BREAKDOWNS:
Each $75 entry fee break down is allocated to the following components:
- Cash prizes
- Event Administrative and equipment costs
- Brag Mat production
- Event Insurance
Each $25 Power Play Entry fee is allocated to:
- 100% return to state event POWER PLAY prize pot
Entry fees are in most cases, NON-REFUNDABLE.
Only in extreme circumstances (Such as event cancellation and extreme weather (for which a new date may be nominated), will there be a consideration for a refund.
Any disqualifications from an event will result in a non-refundable entry.
DISQUALIFICATIONS & PENALTIES:
Penalties and/ or Disqualification will be at the discretion of the event judges and marshals.
Penalties and/or Disqualifications may occur in the event of an entrant undertaking any of the following:
- Cheating / attempted cheating.

COUNT BACK SYSTEM:
In the event of a series final draw placing, a countback system will take place.
This will mean that the tied entrants scoring from the final round back through events to the first round will be reviewed.
The entrant who has achieved the higher score in the most recent round during a count back will take the higher placing in the series scoring.
All entrants kayaks must be in a safe, operable and serviceable condition.
All participating kayaks must be MANUALLY OPERATED only
The use of electrics and motors is NOT PERMITTED (Unless prior approval has been authorised by Yak Hunters Kayak Fishing Series for specific and valid purposes only)
Multi-person kayaks may only have a maximum of 2 persons that may enter a series round. Each angler must be registered as an individual and pay individual entry fees.
Trolling is permitted
Trolling is limited to 1 LINE AT A TIME ONLY - multiple rods trolling at the same time is NOT PERMITTED.
NOTE: Trolling will be defined as any fixed line in the water at any given time whilst the kayak is under movement by the angler, either by being paddled or pedaled.
Angers bag limits will be announced on the morning of the event to all entrants.
This will be decided and updated at the very last minute to ensure bag limits are fair, concise and relevant to the most recent fishing conditions.
It is also a preventative measure to discourage any form of event cheating prior to an event.
Each angler will be given a number between 1 - 50 (or max numbers at the daily event), in a particular colour and coding relevant to an event.
Anglers will draw their number randomly - this is to ensure no cheating prior to an event can occur and is a fair system for all.
**ROUND 3 UPDATE**
A code will be provided for you to write on your brag mat on the day of the event. You must have this code written in the space provided on your issued Series brag mat.
No entries will be accepted without the valid code contained within your photo entry.
Cash will not be existent at any of the Series rounds.
Prizes and cash allocations will be done as electronic bank transfers, and will usually take place within the following week of a series event and paid to the relevant winners. This measure is to prevent any security risks and physical handling of cash.
**ROUND 3 UPDATE**
ALL prizes will be sent to winners via post. Nil prizes or cash will be handed out to any entrant in person due to COVID-19 requirements.
Before entering and participating in any series event, it is the individual angler's responsibility to ensure they have the appropriate safety equipment as per Australian standards, the relevant licenses, and permits needed to fishing (if required), and that their individual health and ability is sufficient and in order to participate in an event.
Anglers must sign a liability waiver form on the morning of an event - any refusal to sign will result in non-entry.

Event staff may check each angler on the morning of the event and have the right to refuse entry to any angler who is non-compliant with these requirements.
Any Angler that appears intoxicated or under the influence of any substances at any event may be refused entry and/or disqualified.
ALL ANGLERS WILL WEAR A LIFE JACKET AT ALL TIMES WHILST ON THE WATER, ANY ANGLER FOUND NOT COMPLIANT WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION.

Yak Hunters will endeavour to ensure additional safety measures are in place at each event.

Each Angler should have a means of communication to be carried on their persons AT ALL TIMES.
Event staff will make determinations of weather conditions prior to and on the day of an event, and reserve the right to cancel or postpone an event if adverse weather conditions arise. This is due to safety reasons for all anglers and event staff.
