Yak Hunters Queensland is giving assistance to the Brisbane Valley Anglers Fishstocking Association (BVA)with fish tagging and raising funds for stocking Lake Manchester.
BVA has worked with SEQ Water to secure access to the boat ramp at Lake Manchester. Yes you read correctly no more dragging your kayak a long distance or up the hill of tears.
The BVA over the years has stocked approx 31k in bass and 22k in Murry-Cod, Into Lake Manchester.
As this dam is not a SIPS dam we can only stock by fundraising. That is where your entry fee will be going, to put fish back in the dam and are aiming to do a stocking of Bass and Mary River Cod
The entry fee for the day is $50.
Is not a large dam but so its easily fished with a paddle kayak. Is very scenic and surrounded by lily pads.
There will be prizes for largest Bass, largest Spangle perch, Largest Cod (if that is not claimed it will go to eel tailed catfish or eel).
Some gift vouchers have been Donated by Charltons fishing and a lure pack from Rapala Lures. So make sure you drop in to see Craig and the boys on your way home.
We had only one request from SEQ water that no pictures of the boat ramp being used on social media.
Access to the launch area will be from 745 to 845. There will be an attached map of where to go.
As the area could be in use by other park users a BVA member will take a small convoy to the ramp area.
The event will start at 9 and conclude at 2.
There will be two BVA boats on the water to tag caught fish. So if you catch fish please let them know.
The dam is fishing very well, I caught 25 on my last trip with most being over 35cm fish.
Expect most fish to be fat and between 35 and 50cm.
Like all YH events please bring and wear an approved and functional life vest.
BVA will provide a portaloo for people to use at the launch area.
So please come and try out a lake you probably have always wanted to fish but access has put you off.
